With the river Soca being its main feature, Bovec provides an inviting base for year round outdoor recreation. It is famed for its white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hydrospeed and other watersports in the summer and attracts numerous downhill and cross-country skiers in the winter.

Ski resort Kanin-Sella Nevea is the first international ski resort in the wider region. With the construction of a new cableway ski slopes Kanin and Sella Nevea became one. The access to the ski resort with the same ticket is possible from Slovenian and Italian side as well. Kanin-Sella Nevea is the highest ski resort in the region and has a long ski season up to the May-day holidays.

Amongst the other numerous activities available are mountain biking, climbing, caving, paragliding, sky diving, horse riding and of course hiking. It is also renowned as a fly-fishing paradise and the river Soca is home to the famous marble trout. The fantastic Kanin mountain bike park is nearby, as well as a staggering 290 km of biking trails to suit all abilities, from easy to very demanding. There is also a 9 hole golf course and driving range.

In addition to the varied and extensive activity programme on offer, the Kluze fortress with its fascinating history and the award winning museum of WW1 at the nearby town of Kobarid is definitely worth a visit. During the high season occasional open-air concerts are held in the village of Bovec.
